MARIE WALKED INTO HER apartment, throwing her jacket on the couch. She was exhausted after shopping with Annette and answering the other woman's list of questions regarding her and River, and she was ready to kick back and take a warm bath and maybe even listen to a little music while she waited for the memories of the day to melt away. Marie undressed, quickly making it to the bathroom and starting the warm water. She pulled a pair of stray headphones from her vanity, hooked them to her phone and pulled up her playlist. Pulling a container of bubble bath from the side of the tub, she opened the bottle and poured in a capful of the fragrant liquid into the bath water before sinking in. The warm water hit her instantly as she let herself relax in the water, and she closed her eyes. She needed a little me time, and most of all, she needed to figure out what she was going to do about her schedule.

She knew in her heart that there was no way to get the design job finished before her meeting in New York, and though she kept pushing the topic from her mind, she also knew that she was going to have to talk to River about it. Nevertheless, after the connection that she had with the woman the night before, she didn't want to disappoint her. Though she wanted to deny it, there was something between her and River, and the chemistry between the two of them made it much harder to be honest with the other woman about her modeling schedule. Marie thought about how she could tell River, replaying the scenario over and over in her head. Maybe, she was overreacting. Maybe, River would be just fine, but if the other woman wasn't okay with her meeting in New York, would she jeopardize her design job? Moreover, would she jeopardize her growing relationship with River? She didn't know the answers to any of that, and that is what made the conversation so difficult.

Marie tried to clear her mind once again, focusing on the music flowing through her ear buds. She would have to find out what to say to River later. She did still have some time left, and there was the possibility that somehow and some way she would pull together the design project before her New York trip. It was highly unlikely, but she didn't believe in discounting the idea completely. As she sank deeper into the water, Marie felt her body relax and her mind calm. She hadn't felt this peaceful for a while. She laid in the warm water for a long time, and when her toes finally began to prune, Marie washed and got out.

Just as she was putting on her robe, Marie's phone began to ring, stopping the music that was still playing on her phone. She looked at the phone, and saw Penny's name displayed across the front, letting out a deep sigh as she answered.
